October 2011 Offshore & Bay Fishing
Report |
|
The Bull Reds are running big time out in the
gulf. We are offering short runs out for bull
reds, sharks, and mackerel. Most trips lately
have caught over 20 of these fish within an hour
or so. Some really fast action on big fish. Some
trips have got a mix of the bulls and smaller
eating sized reds as well.
The inshore Bay fishing has been good for
trout, red fish, flounder, mangrove snapper,
croaker and drum. This recent cool front should
make it really turn on as the water cools.

July August Texas Deep Sea Fishing |
|
July and August are some of our prime months
to fish here on the Texas Gulf Coast. Red
Snapper season ended on July 18, which came very
short. We had some great trips with our red
snappers averaging 10-15 lbs on the days we were
able to make 30 plus miles. Most trips got their
limit within an hour and we were off looking for
other species such as, king, ling, dorado, and
sharks.
During August we have been hitting the short
rigs and shrimp boats getting plenty of kings,
sharks, a few ling and dorado as well. As Sept
approaches we will have a mix of Bull Reds as
well.. This fishing will go on through early
November. Cant wait for some of those cool
October mornings! October is one of my favorite
months to fish, with spring like conditions and
some great warm water fishing..
They may even reopen the red snapper season
for October.. still waiting on an update.

June Red Snapper Season 2011 |
|
Red snapper season is finally here. It looks
to be a short one June 1st- July 18. We have had
some great trips lately, with the snapper
averaging 10 lbs or more. Also have been getting
Kings, ling, mahi, sharks... The winds have died
down so it looks like we will have some nice
days to come.
Now is the time to go!
We have posted our current catch photos on
our pictures page. We try to update them daily.
There are still days available. We have 3
offshore boats, so getting out shouldn't be a
problem..

Starting towards the end of March the big
bull redfish did there annual spring run. Almost
every trip we did caught lots of big bulls. The
water temps were hovering around 68-70, once it
hit the 70 mark it broke wide open. The Jacks
starting coming in, along with spanish mackerals.
The last week or so the Bull sharks have come in
as well, some pushing 100 plus pounds. We have
even begun catching a few cobia, the water temps
keep rising so more fish will keep moving our
way....

Texas Bay Fishing Report 2-21-2011 |
|
Our inshore bay fishing has been really good
lately. The warming temps have made the trout
and red fish move up on the flats. Drifting over
mid bay reefs has been best. The fish have been
holding over shell reefs in about 3-4 ft of
water. Most of our trips have been using
artificials.
Out in the gulf we have been catching Big Red
fish, and red snapper. The snapper have to be
released since the season is closed. But they
are fun to catch. The warm up is definitely
helping, the bull red run should start very
soon.

Jan 2010 |
Winter time has set in, there have been very few days to
fish, but on the warmer calm sunny days the inshore bay
fishing has been pretty good for trout and redfish. We
have also gone offshore getting some both big and
smaller redfish. Cant wait for some warm weather.. |

2010 Fall Red Snapper Season October
Fishing Report |
|
The Red Snapper season has reopened. Started
on oct. 1st and will go thru nov. 22nd weekends
only Fri-Sun are the fishing days. On the
opener we got into some really nice fish,
averaging 10-20lbs. and lots of them. This is
typical for this time of year the fish always
seemed bigger as the weather cools.
We headed out caught a bunch of nice snapper
and worked our way back inshore, where the
kings, ling, sharks and bull reds were. The
weather has been really nice, cool temps and
great fishing.
The Bay fishing is heating up as well. Birds
are working in the back bays over feeding trout
and redfish. The flounder are also showing up
along deeper shorelines.
This time of year is one of our best times to
get on fish..And one of my favorite months of
the year!

Texas Deep Sea Fishing Report
Been very busy have not had time to post up reports so
here is a quick update. We had one of the shortest
red snapper seasons on record this year, however the
fish were bigger than ever. On most trips we were able
to land snapper averaging 8-15 lbs. We made quick
limits on snapper then moving on for kings, ling, shark,
mahi, ect.. Now that the weather and water starts to
cool the bull Red run begins. The beach front will be
loaded with schools of 20-30 lb bull reds. Mixed in with
these bruisers will be sharks, jacks, occasional ling,
and tarpon. These are great trips to take if you want to
get into some fast action on big fish. Sept.- nov is
prime time for these trips.. |

schools of fish out just a few miles from the
beach, most fish averaging 20 lbs or more. We
caught our first Cobias aka (Ling)of the year
this week as well. Water is warming up, big
schools of spanish mackeral near the jetties.
Lots of small sharks as well mixed in.
Bay fishing around the jetties has been
producing some really nice trout and lots of
slot sized red fish.
Water temps are in the low 70s, so as it gets

March 13-20 Spring Break 2010 |
|
Weather was decent, a little cool on some
days, but nice overall.
We did a mix of trips, with the bay and short
range offshore trips being the best. On the bay
side we managed some really good red fishing,
some days getting full limits of nice slot reds,
with many throw backs mixed in. Trout were
around as well, some trips getting lots of small
ones with a few keepers, along with the
occasional flounder and sheep head in the mix.
Out in the gulf were catches of Big Bull
Reds, along with a few Black Drum. The Bull Reds
averaged 15-30 lbs.
The water temps are slowly rising bringing in
more fish as it warms. We should be in our full
spring pattern any day now as it warms.

Dec.18 2009 |
The winter Texas Bay fishing has been really good for
speckled trout and redfish right after the cool fronts.
On the sunny days following a cool front the tides
usually drop and the fish have been running for deep
water canals, rivers and creeks. The Bull Reds have
also still been running right offshore in the Gulf.
These fish have been averaging 15 -30 lbs lately.
They are a blast to catch if you like reeling in some
big strong fish.

Sept. 19, 2009 |
Fishing along the coast has been incredible this
month. As it has cooled off a little the Bull Reds have
started there annual run. We have been sight casting
these fish on the surface in 20 ft of water. It's an
amazing sight to see 100 or more fish that are all 15-30
lbs schooling. There are also plenty of big black tip
sharks, kings and a few tarpon hanging around on the
outside of the bull reds.
October is gonna be a great month for this type of
trip along with bay fishing. We are doing our fall
Specials at this time.

Sept 2009 |
The Fall fishing has begun. The Bull reds have been
roaming around in big schools, once you find them it can
be pretty crazy. Its not uncommon to catch 20-40 of
these fish in the 20-40lb class in just a couple of hrs.
Black tip sharks, kings, jacks, and a few tarpon are
around as well. As water cools fishing will get better
and better. Looks like we are gonna have a great fall.

June- July 2009 |
It has been a great couple of weeks lately, lots of king
fish and black tip sharks, just a few miles off the
beach. The blue green water made it within a few miles
of shore making for some outstanding action. Also on a
few trips were tarpon sightings. We landed 2 out of 4
hook ups. All the tarpon were in the 100 lb class. We
should see continued action as the clear water stays
close.

April 2009 |
Our shark fishing has been turning on. We are catching
lots of sharks and bull reds just off the beach front.

March 1-12-2009 |
Spring has finally arrived, the weather has been perfect
for fishing lately. The water temps have risen to around
67-68 degrees. This has created a good run of some Texas
sized Bull Red fish. Most trips have been getting good
action on Bull Reds with the occasional shark. We should
see more sharks as the water warms.

Nov. 2008 |
Been fishing for bull reds, and sharks on most trips
lately. The Bulls have been good, sharks have been a
little slower. We have also been getting a few late
season ling "cobia" on the same type of trip. As it gets
cooler we will be moving out to deeper water for redfish
and red snapper.

Sept.20-2008 |
Hurricane Ike has past, for some a very unfortunate
deal. For us we were very lucky to have all of our boats
safe and sound. We are open for business out of
Freeport, Texas. Plenty of gas, ice and every thing we
need to run charters. The bull reds are biting very well
at this time along with spanish mackerels. The fishing
after the storm is out standing. Capt Leaf

|
July 2008 |
Summer fishing has been great on the calm days that we
can get out to the gulf. Lots of sharks coming in
average size 3-5 ft. Most trips lately have been getting
kingfish and sharks, The kings are in because the blue
water is within 9 miles. We should start seeing some
bigger sharks with the presence of Shrimp boats in the
area. |

June-Sept 2007 |
We have been really busy this summer, fishing has been
really good over all. Some days tougher than others but
for the most part we have had some really good trips.
There are plenty of sharks out right now, they are
working behind the shrimp boats along the beach front.
The fall run on Bull reds should start at any time now.
Most of our trips have been getting lots of King Fish,
Spanish mackerel and sharks. |
|
5-30-2007 Texas Bull Reds |
Had both boats out today for some Texas Bull red
fishing. Had one group with 4 kids ages 7-10 these guys
had a blast they caught so many fish including bull
reds, sharks, and gaff tops. The Bulls were crazy once
you had them chummed up behind the boat. The Big sharks
are still around also just offshore a few miles. We
didn't really mess with them today but will go after
them on Friday. These young ladies were on our other
boat.
 |
|
5-19-2007 |
We fished Friday-Sunday this weekend. Friday was very
windy with rough conditions, still managed some sharks.
Saturday got really nice offshore fished for the Texas
Sharks. They were there thick, we caught lots of nice
Black tip sharks in the 40-80 lb class. At some point
you would have them swimming around the boat, you could
just flip a bait out to them and the battle was on.

4-12-2007 Texas Shark Trip |
Had a couple of guys today, fished a
few miles offshore for Bull Reds and Sharks. We were
greeted by some very windy choppy conditions. I knew the
fish were there so we went ahead on and made a few hours
out of it. We caught lots of Atlantic Sharpnose Sharks
in the 3 ft range with quite a few bull reds mixed in.
Once the fish showed up we caught them one after
another. We also caught some of those Bat Rays.
